NMS Beyond: Online

March 29, 2019 by Grandpa Joe No Man's Sky News

Okay, so the title looks a little odd, but bear with me. It will make sense shortly. See – when No Man’s Sky Beyond was announced, Hello Games mentioned that there would be three components rolled into one monumental update. The first – No Man’s Sky: Online. Now, we don’t know what that means in terms of gameplay, but HG had this to say on their blog:

No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.

There’s a lot to piece together in that small quote, but from what I can see, Hello Games is definitely on the right track with the Online update. Speculation has been wild in both the Atlas Codex and No Man’s Sky Discord groups. I’ve personally seen people hoping for everything from a major space upgrade, to improved features currently in game, to space narwhals (yep…). However, the bottom line is this: the No Man’s Sky community is gearing up for another update, and the hypetrain is slowly rolling out of the station.

Fly safe, Interlopers.
